OK, my favorite time of the year – even if my team is not playing. This year, the number 1 seed in the AFC is still up for grabs and guess who is in contention. That’s right #1 seed is the New England Patriots and number 2 seed is the Denver Broncos. If the Patriots lose to the Miami Dolphins tomorrow, and the Broncos beat the San Diego Chargers, they will finish the regular season with identical records. Because the Broncos beat the Patriots head-to-head, the Broncos would have the number 1 seed and home field advantage throughout the playoffs!
Of course the Dolphins beating the Patriots is a tall order. I’m not sure they have the talent to hang with the Patriots. The Broncos on the other hand have wins against the Patriots and Cincinnati Bengals, but back to back losses against the Oakland Raiders and the Pittsburg Steelers. Now granted that the Steelers are one of the hottest teams right now in the NFL and may very well sneak into the playoffs as a Wild Card team, losing to the Raiders is really inexcusable. It’s almost like we win the tough games and lose the games we should win on paper. This is why I don’t have as much confidence with this team as I would like. Although their defense is the best in the league, they haven’t been consistent enough for me yet.
By beating the Bengals last week, the Broncos are guaranteed a playoff spot. Even if they lose to the Chargers tomorrow, they are still qualified for the post season. However, if they lose to the Chargers, and the Kansas City Chiefs win, then the Chiefs will win the division and have a higher seed for the playoffs. So this game is still pretty huge for the Broncos.
Normally, I would use my super secrete calculations on my computer to bet on the over/under, but my laptop is being fixed right now by my friend’s company (coscomputerrepair.com) so I’ll have to wait for the playoffs to start betting some big dough.
Enjoy the PLAYOFFS!
